moonflower blooming

Ipomoea alba, otherwise known as Moonflowers are so called because they bloom in the evening. They have large 4 to 6 inch fragrant, white or pink flowers on twining vines. The flowers open quickly in the evening and last through the night, remaining open until touched by the morning Sun.

Moonflowers should be planted when the Moon is new or increasing in light!

Hydra

Most of my students believed that hydra is a plant. Well , find out here from Wikipedia Encylopedia...

Hydra is a genus of simple fresh-water animal possessing radial symmetry. Hydras are predatory animals belonging to the phylum Cnidaria and the class Hydrozoa.[1][2] They can be found in most unpolluted fresh-water ponds, lakes, and streams in the temperate and tropical regions and can be found by gently sweeping a collecting net through weedy areas. They are usually a few millimetres long and are best studied with a microscope. Biologists are especially interested in hydras due to their regenerative ability; and that they appear not to age or die of old age. However, there is not scientific unanimity yet on whether Hydra undergo senescence...

triggering scientific thinking : high rise

willl it collapse?

The goal is to build a free-standing framework which will support weight one metre above the ground. The framework which can support the most weight is the winner.

proud with their works.....
materials:
straws, pins, tape, papaer clips, elastic bands, sciccors, metre ruler, set of object of varying weight.

waiting for he judgement....
Doing it.:
1. the framework is built using straws. Straws can be joined together in many different ways. You can make a long straw by squeezing one endof a straw and placing it in another. You can pins or tape to hold straws together. You can bind straws where they intersect with elastic bands.Straws can also be put together with paper clips.

final touch......

which structures can support the lowest weight object one metre above ground?

which structures can hold the most weight?

judgement time....

keep adding weight untill all but one structures copllapse..

is this the winner?....
